Four area players selected to SEISC North Division first team

Four area players were selected to the first team when the All-Southeast Iowa Super Conference North Division squad was released on Monday.

Columbus senior Megan Pretz was selected to the first team after leading the Wildcats to a third-place finish in the North Division with an 11-7 record in league play. Pretz averaged a double-double in conference play, leading the league in rebounding with 11.3 boards per game and ranking eighth in scoring with 10.2 points per game. She also was third in field goal percentage (47.9) and tied for eighth in blocked shots (16).

Highland point guard Chelsey Lampe was selected to the first team after helping the Huskies to a tie for fifth in the conference standings with an 8-10 record in league play. The sophomore tied for fourth in the league in steals with 47, and her 42 assists were the 10th-most in the conference. She also averaged 7.4 points and 4.8 rebounds per game.

IMS junior Olivia Yutzy was selected to the first team after leading her team to an eighth place finish in the North Division with a 6-12 record in league play. Yutzy ranked fourth in the conference in scoring with 12 points per game, and her 43 steals tied for the eighth most in the league. She also led her team in rebounding with 6.1 per game.

WACO sophomore Aaliyah Brown was selected to the first team after finishing among the league leaders in scoring, rebounding and shooting percentage. Brown’s 10.7 points per game ranked sixth in the conference, and her 6.8 rebounds ranked seventh. She also was fifth in field goal percentage (46.2). Brown’s Warriors finished ninth in the North Division with a 5-12 record.

Junior Martha Anaya and sophomore Kelsey Pretz were second-team selections for Columbus. Anaya averaged 6.3 points per game in league play and her 81 assists led the conference. Pretz averaged 8.2 points and 4.7 rebounds per game during league games.

Highland senior Kelsey Doreo and IMS junior Kristin Davis were also second-team selections. Doreo averaged 7.4 points and 5.2 rebounds during conference play, and she blocked 10 shots. Davis ranked fifth in the league in scoring with 11.5 points per game, and her 2.6 assists per contest ranked eighth in the conference. Davis also led the North Division in made 3-point goals with 45, and she hit 31.3 percent of her shots from beyond the arc.

Seniors Caitlin Chaney and Shelly Stewart received honorable mention for Columbus. Chaney averaged 7.7 points and 2.4 steals per game during league play, and she had the third-most made 3-point goals in the conference with 23. Stewart chipped in 3.6 points and 3.7 rebounds per game during the conference season.

Seniors Paige Wieland and Kassie Vazquez received honorable mention for Highland. Wieland averaged 4.5 points per game during league play before suffering a knee injury, and Vazquez averaged 3.5 points and 2.2 assists per game.

IMS sophomores Riley Schmieder and Hannah Miller averaged 6.9 and 6.8 points per game during league play, respectively, both earning all-conference honorable mention. Schmieder also averaged 3.6 rebounds per game and blocked 16 shots.

Junior Jaelyn Unternahrer and sophomore Erika Leichty received honorable mention for WACO. Unternahrer averaged 5.1 points per game during the conference season and made 21 3-point goals, which tied for the fourth-most in the league. Leichty chipped in 4.6 points and 4.7 rebounds per game.
