Fugitive arrested during evidence raid
Members of the Washington Police Department SWAT team executed a search warrant this morning in the 400 block of East Madison Street in Washington and found a wanted subject and allegedly stolen items.
Investigator Shawn Ellingson reported that Johnatan Sanchez, 20, of Washington, has been arrested on a warrant for willful injury. He remains in the Washington County Jail under $18,000 bond. Ellingson said the arrest was made while a search warrant was being served at 410 E. Madison St. in Washington. The investigation is continuing and other charges are pending.
Iowa Courts Online shows that Sanchez was arrested on Nov. 13 for assault. It also showed he was released on bail. An arrest warrant was later issued for him in reference to the case.
The warrant, along with another warrant served in the 200 block of E. 14th St. in Washington, was issued in reference to a robbery that was reported early Saturday morning in the City of Washington. Ellingson said that no one was arrested at the East 14th Street location. He said items connected to the robbery were seized during the warrant at the East Madison Street home. He also said officers located Sanchez “hiding” in the residence.
