Genealogical Society program to focus on slavery
The Washington County Genealogical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Nov. 5, in the Nicola-Stoufer Room in the library. The program will be an overview of slavery in the United States, especially in the South before the Civil War. It will include stories told by former slaves and Underground Railroad workers. Janice Twinam will lead the program.
The annual meeting of the Society will follow. The meeting is open to the public.
