Golden Hawk girls’ season ends
MEDIAPOLIS – The Mid-Prairie High School girls’ varsity basketball team suffered a 60 – 36 season-ending defeat at the hands of the Mediapolis Bulldogs on Wednesday, Feb. 19 in a regional tournament semifinal game.
Junior Taylor Kurtz led the Golden Hawks in points with 11 and rebounds with 12. The Golden Hawks finish the season at 11 – 10 overall.
“We finished the year with an 11-10 record, which I was very happy with considering all the seniors we lost from last year’s team and losing our second-leading scorer to an injury with eight games to go in the season. I thought the team did great job of sticking together and stepping up. We will miss the three seniors Courtney Cayton, Courtney Shalla, and Cailee Stumpf. We are excited that we return so many players from this year’s team. We believe we can be in the hunt for the conference title and a long run into the post season next year if the girls put in the time this offseason,” Mid-Prairie head coach Stephen Bender said.
