WEST LIBERTY - The Mid-Prairie High School junior varsity and varsity girls’ golf teams participated in a triangular against West Branch and West Liberty at West Liberty Country Club last night.
The Golden Hawks posted a team score of 207 to best West Liberty’s 218 and West Branch’s 232. Mid-Prairie senior Sydney Scarff was the team medalist and runner-up meet medalist with a nine-hole score of 49.
Adding to the team total was senior Courtney Cayton with 51, senior Mick Van Winkle with 53 and sophomore Allyson Wertz with 54.  Senior Laura Yoder and sophomore Abby Pickard rounded out the varsity scores with scores of 63 and 64.  The Mid-Prairie JV girls’ scoring was led by Freshman Olivia Nisly with 58, Lindsey Palmer with 81 and Cassidy Bender with an 82.
“After a week of cold practice conditions the girls came out and posted a great team score of 207.  For this early in the year, that is awesome. Sydney posted her best nine-hole score since early last season. She has worked hard on some of the little things in her game that make a big difference. In our talk after the meet, the consensus of the team was that even though they posted a 207, most thought that they could have easily improved on a couple holes.  That’s a great attitude for the girls to have.  I have no doubt that if they keep improving like they have been, they will get it done. They all did a great job tonight,” Golden Hawk head coach Trace McArtor said.
Mid-Prairie will be on the course again on Monday, April 14 at Durant.
