Golden Hawks lose two duals at Iowa Valley
MARENGO — Mid-Prairie dropped a pair of non-conference duals at Iowa Valley on Tuesday night.
The Golden Hawks fell to the host Tigers 48-30. Sophomore 113-pounder Josh Murphy, freshman 152-pounder Miguel Sanchez, junior 182-pounder Phirom Peterschmidt and senior 195-pounder Nearoth Peterschmidt each won by fall for Mid-Prairie, and freshman 106-pounder Ryan Errthum received a forfeit. But the Golden Hawks surrendered four open weights to Iowa Valley.
Vinton-Shellsburg defeated Mid-Prairie 45-31. Murphy pinned his opponent at 113 pounds, and senior 138-pounder Kendall Bontrager won a 13-0 major decision over Vinton-Shellsburg’s Hunter Vogt. Sanchez won a 9-3 decision over Vinton-Shellsburg’s Parker Oltrogge, and the Golden Hawks won three matches by forfeit. But the Vikings won five matches by forfeit.
Mid-Prairie will travel to West Branch tomorrow for the Cedar Valley Conference tournament, which will begin at 10 a.m.
