Goncho future on hold

By Xiomara Levsen | Apr 23, 2014

The 30-day time period has passed for the owners of the building in the 300 block of North Marion Avenue in Washington, formerly known as Goncho Apartments, to fix the building code violations and clean up the meth residue in the building.
Steve Donnolly, building and zoning administrator for the City of Washington, said he is waiting to hear back from the city’s lawyer on what the next step will be.
The city hasn’t heard from the owners of the building, Lucas Miller and Elmer Miller, since a hearing was held in March with the Washington Building Committee. The owners waived their right to appeal the Washington Building Committee’s decision to uphold Donnolly’s declaration of the building being dangerous in January 2013, Donnolly said.
“Our whole goal is to get in there and clean things up,” Donnolly said.
