Halcyon House News
Pastor Moody Colorado representing the West Chester United Methodist Church led the weekly service with Halcyon House residents. The Easter sermon was shared with many in attendance.
Several Halcyon House residents recently enjoyed the musical talents of Dave Draheim and Linda Boston. They entertained the group with Dave on the keyboard and Linda on vocals.
Dick Colby shared “Classics” with a near full house in the Epworth Chapel. Residents from all levels of living enjoyed lively tunes and the brief stories that Dick shares about each tune or set of tunes.
Mary Jo Koehler shared a sing-along in the Sitler Lounge and Arborwood recently. Mary Jo brings her guitar and plays wonderful background music while leading the songs and encouraging others to join in with her.
Many residents enjoyed visits from family members over the Easter weekend. Food was enjoyed in many different places and ways. The Triplett family enjoyed a potluck in a meeting room and Don and Becky Patterson enjoyed a meal with family in one of the household sunrooms. Still others enjoyed meals with family and friends in the Applewood Bistro and Timmins Dining Room.
Several residents enjoyed Mix & Mingle this week. They enjoyed exotic cheeses, olives, shrimp cocktail, and other appetizers. Some of those who enjoyed appetizers and visiting with each other were Denny and Connie Sorrell, Erma Ropp, Virginia Tschantz, Audrey Stark, Bea Johnson, Lea Smothers, Larry Canfield and others.
The Independent Living and Sitler residents had a ball as they hunted all over the campus for Easter Eggs last Friday. Several met in the Applewood Bistro for rolls, coffee and juice followed by the hunt for eggs. Most of the eggs, besides a little candy, had a small gift in them and/or Scripture. However, the golden egg with $10 cash was found by Glenys Elwood. Dolores Wood was another lucky one as she found the big, big egg full of all kinds of goodies plus cash and gift certificate to Applewood Bistro. Also, found in many of the eggs, a slip of paper for a free piece of pie donated by Applewood Bistro. The morning was topped off with a little hippity-hop-hop bunny (Jude Carter) and a big bunny giving lots of warm fuzzies (Margaret Stauffer).
Birthday wishes go out this week to Becky Patterson.
