Halcyon to host one-man play

May 01, 2013

Funding from Humanities Iowa has made it possible for Halcyon House to host the presentation of a one-man play, “The Not So Quiet Librarian,” on Tuesday, May 7, at 1 p.m. in the Morrison Center at Halcyon House. The presentation is free and open to the public.

Written by nationally known playwright Cynthia Mercati and performed by Tom Milligan, the play portrays Forrest Spaulding with the gentle good humor he was known for, as well as his devotion to the library and to civil rights. Spaulding was a very “unquiet” librarian, and the play shows what good one man can do in the world.
