Hallman named Fairfield editor
After over three years at The Washington Evening Journal as the community news editor, Andy Hallman recently received a promotion within Golden Triangle Publish-ing to become the news editor of the Fairfield Daily Ledger. He begins Monday.
Hallman came to The Journal on Oct. 5, 2009, after having worked for The Farm Journal and The Daily Freeman Journal in Webster City. Hallman graduated from Iowa State University in 2008 with a degree in political science and a minor in Spanish.
“I’m excited for a new town and a new opportunity,” Hallman said. “I’m grateful to all the people in the community who make Washington County a great place to live.”
While working in Washington, Hallman said his goals were to improve as a writer and a photographer. He feels he accomplished both goals.
In Fairfield, Hallman said that he plans to rely on employees to start before introducing his own style of journalism to the staff. He said that he would not be a stranger to Washington and plans to make it back frequently to visit friends.
Golden Triangle Chief Executive Officer Darwin Sherman said he is confident Hallman will be successful as the editor of The Ledger.
“We are extremely proud of Andy and we are looking very much forward to a very successful tenure at the Fairfield Daily Ledger,” Sherman said. “He and the town appear to be a good match and there is no doubt in my mind based on Andy’s performance here at the Evening Journal that he will be a huge success and bring total credibility to the news product at Fairfield, Iowa.”
Golden Triangle is currently seeking a reporter to fill the role as community news editor at The Journal.
