Hamakua Place to offer Glory Girls Club
Hamakua Place will host a four-week spring session of Glory Girls Club. Girls in grades six through nine, ages 11-15, are invited to participate.
The purpose of the club is to have a place where girls can learn how to express themselves and to share their concerns and interests with their peers in a safe environment as well as participate in creative and theme-focused activities such as friendship building, body image, self-expression, self-esteem, goal setting, decision making, coping with hard times and basic life skills.
The club offers a four-week spring session on Wednesdays in April. The sessions will be held from 3:45 to 5 p.m. April 3, 10, 17 and 24, at Hamakua Place, 604 S. Iowa Ave. in Washington. The sessions will end with an overnight retreat for all the girls who complete the program. The retreat, "Girls Just Want to Have Fun!" will be held from 8 p.m. Friday, April 26, to 11 a.m. Saturday, April 27, for girls who have participated in the meetings.
The program is free. Ten girls have already signed up. Registration forms are available at the Washington MIddle School.
