Healthy Community Showcase planned Feb. 13
The Obesity Prevention Task Force and SAFE Coalition have planned a Healthy Community Coalition Showcase for Wednesday, Feb. 13, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at JP’s 207, located at 207 West Main Street in Washington. The showcase will provide appetizers and a variety of speakers. The event will take the place the quarterly meeting of the Healthy Community Coalition and will provide a summary of the year 2012 in review.
Ten-minute presentations will include Safe Routes to School At Kalona Elementary, by Jim Cayton, principal, and Jenna Grout, nurse, at Kalona Elementary; Rachel’s Challenge at Washington High School, by students; Walkability Assessment — City of Washington, by City Administrator Brent Hinson; Student-led Gardens, by Dave Hoffman, principal of Lincoln Elementary in Washington, and Jane O’Leary, Principal of Ainsworth Elementary; Anti-Bullying At Mid-Prairie Middle School, by students; and The Healthiest State in the Nation, by Erin Rugg of JET Physical Therapy.
