Hospice creates Small Gifts program

Oct 31, 2013

The non-profit group Hospice of Washington County recently created a new organizational endowment fund with the Community Foundation of Washington County. This endowment will provide Hospice with a secure and permanent source of funding for years to come.

Hospice was formed in 1998 to provide care that assists patients, family and friends during final stages of a terminal illness. Distributions from the Hospice of Washington County Endowment Fund will be used to establish a Small Gifts Program to help families with significant economic struggles as a result of a loved one’s illness. Donations to this fund qualify for the Endow Iowa state tax credit, a program giving donors a state tax credit of 25 percent of the amount of their donation, in addition to the regular federal charitable deduction.
