Hot start lifts Demon JV girls over Oskaloosa
OSKALOOSA — Washington jumped out to a 17-4 lead after one quarter of Saturday’s junior varsity girls’ basketball game at Oskaloosa, and the Demons rolled to a 32-22 victory.
“Overall, we forced 33 turnovers,” Washington head coach Jay Zieglowsky said. “We out-rebounded them 32-12. We had 19 offensive rebounds. That’s obviously a big difference there. I was surprised because they had two 6-foot girls. But we played pretty good defense.”
Sophomore Sydney Hoffman had eight points, six rebounds and two steals to lead Washington (7-6), which won its fourth straight game. Freshman Amber Salow added six points, and sophomore Rachael Hall had five points and five steals. Sophomore Macy Marek had four points and three steals in the contest, and freshman Morgan Kimball had three points and three steals. Sophomore Dylann Schluetter contributed two points, three rebounds and three steals, while junior Addie Shive and sophomore Makenna Goodwin both had two points. Sophomore Addison Gaal had four rebounds and two steals in the game, and freshman McKayla Miller had three rebounds and two thefts. Junior Jacy Zieglowsky also had a pair of steals.
