Hunter safety courses to be offered locally
Two opportunities to become certified in hunter safety are coming up. The first course will be offered the week of Feb. 25 and meet from 3:30 to 5 p.m. at the Washington Middle School. For information on this course, contact Jim Cuddeback at (319) 863-3091.
The second course will be offered at the Conservation Education Center at Marr Park . This class will run from 6-9 p.m. on Tuesday, March 26 and Thursday, March 28, finishing on Saturday, March 30 from 8 a.m. until noon. For more information on this class, contact Kathy at the Conservation Center at (319) 657-2400.
Attendance at all sessions is required. Anyone born after Jan. 1, 1972, is required by law to complete a hunter safety course prior to obtaining a hunting license. The class is open to anyone 11 years of age and older. The certificate of completion, however, is not valid until the youth hunter’s 12th birthday.
Pre-registration is required. Register online at www.iowadnr.gov/training under Hunter Education classes or contact the instructor listed above for the course you are interested in.
