Huskie, Warrior girls get final tune up before conference

WAYLAND – The Highland High School and host school’s girls’ track and field teams competed in a seven-team meet at WACO High School on Tuesday, May 6.
The Warriors took second place in the team standings with 101 points. The Huskies were fourth at 76.
Highland
Kelsey Hora won the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.97 seconds. The sprint medley placed first in 1:58.6.
Sam Dutton and Amber Bean finished first and second in the 400-meter dash in 1 minute, 6.68 seconds and 1:07.83. Dutton also was second in the high jump at 4 feet, 10 inches.
Alexis Rogers took third place in the discus with a throw of 85-9 ½. The 4x200-meter relay came in third in 1:59. Chelsey Lampe placed third in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:14.01.
Rogers also finished fourth in the shot put field at 29-6. Cheyann Adamson placed fourth in the long jump with a leap of 15-1 ½. Emily Stewart took fifth place in the 800-meter run in 3:03.33.
WACO
Rosemary Skriver won the high jump competition, clearing the bar set at 5 feet. The 4x100-meter relay finished first with a time of 53.86.
Jennie Greene came in second in the long jump, landing at 16-2 ½. Cheyanne Sedlacek was second in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 13:43.2. The 200 relay came in second in 1:56.16.
Leah McElhinney placed third in the shot put, making her mark at 29-9 ¼. The shuttle hurdle relay was third in 1:16.01. The distance medley also placed third with a time of 5:23.69.
Halle Kissell finished third in the 400 in 1:08.92. Gaby Wagler was third in the 800 with a time of 2:56.38. The 4x400-meter relay placed third in 5:14.12.
Angelique Frier came in fourth in the 100 with a time of 13.44. Kasey Sutton finished fourth in the 400 hurdles in 1:17.87. The sprint medley placed fourth with a time of 2:15.99.
Sedlacek also scored in the 1,500-meter run, coming in fourth in 6:08.67. Mayme Hinh was fifth in the discus at 78-7. Jalyssa Jepson placed fifth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 17.88. Chloe Butler came in sixth in the 200-meter dash in 31.58.
The Highland and WACO girls will be in action again tomorrow at the Southeast Iowa Super Conference meet at Mediapolis High School.

100-meter hurdles – McKenna White, WACO, seventh, 19.85. Amy Schnoebelen, Highland, ninth, 20.42. Brown, 11th, 21.23.
200-meter dash – Katelyn Thomson, WACO, seventh, 31.79.
