Huskie, Wildcats boys perform well at Mediapolis

MEDIAPOLIS – The Columbus Community High School and Highland High School boys’ varsity track teams participated in a meet with seven other schools at Mediapolis High School on Tuesday, April 8.
The Huskies finished with a team score of 59.5 points, good for third place. The Wildcats’ team score was 49 points, good for fourth place.
Shot put - Mark Ramirez, Columbus Community, third, 41 feet, 8 inches. Jake Yeggy, Highland, fourth, 41-½.
Long jump - Rickey Rivers, Columbus Community, second, 20-9 ½. Maurico Ramirez, Columbus Community, third, 20-7. Jacob Wilson, Highland, eighth, 18-6.
High jump - Angel Rodriguez, Columbus Community, third, 5-10 . Wilson, fifth 5-6.
4x800-meter relay: Columbus Community (Anthony Garcia, Tanner Shellabarger, J.D. Lekwa and Darek Tisor), sixth, 10 minutes and 55 seconds. Highland (Tucker Hall, Keiffer Sexton, Jake Wood and Kody Wood), first, 9:07.21.
3,200-meter run - Evan Mahler, Highland, second, 10:29.36. Josh Keller, Columbus Community, fifth, 11:14.14.
100-meter dash - Ramirez, third, 11.9.
110-meter shuttle hurdle relay: Highland (Greg Barber, Tanner Vohnamme, Austin McCarthy and Ben Bean) fifth, 1:12.83.
4x200-meter relay - Columbus Community (Ramirez, Rodriguez, Ricardo Roman and Rivers) second, 1:36.32. Highland, (Barber, K. Wood, Vohnamme and Chris Ford), fifth, 1:41.33.
4x100-meter relay - Columbus Community, (Ramirez, Rodriguez, Roman and Rivers), fourth, 46.64. Highland, (Barber, Vohnamme, Matt Hoenig, Bean), seventh, 53.84.
4x400-meter relay - Columbus Community, (Ramirez, Rodriguez, Roman and Rivers), fifth, 4:00.71. Highland, (K. Wood, McCarthy, Wilson and Ford), third, 3:46.37

4x100 weightman relay - Columbus Community, (Tucker Morrisson, Danny Fuentes, Peter Cano and Ramirez), first, 52.5.
Columbus Community will be in action this afternoon at the Demon Relays in Washington. The Huskie boys will be on the track this afternoon at Keokuk.
