IMS comes up just short at Pekin
PACKWOOD — Sophomore Hannah Miller’s baseline jumper fell short as time expired, and Pekin held off IMS 41-40 on Tuesday night.
Pekin (5-3, 5-3 SEISC North) led by four points with less than 30 seconds to play, but IMS junior Olivia Yutzy converted a three-point play with 11 seconds remaining. After the Panthers missed the front end of a one-and-one, IMS had a shot at the win, but Miller’s shot was off the mark.
“We gave ourselves a chance to pull out a win on the road, and that is what we want,” IMS head coach Aaron Gingerich said. “I am happy with the way the girls are competing.”
Yutzy and junior Kristin Davis scored 11 points apiece for IMS (3-6, 3-5 SEISC North), which led 22-19 at halftime. Miller added eight points and four assists.
Senior Leslie Stone had a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Panthers.
