IMS falls at Lone Tree in eight innings
LONE TREE — Lone Tree scored a run in the bottom of the eighth inning to hand visiting IMS a 5-4 loss in Monday’s Southeast Iowa Super Conference North Division baseball game.
Senior Cameron Gingerich went 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles and an RBI to lead IMS (4-10, 4-6 SEISC North). Junior Reggie Hostetler added a hit and an RBI, and junior Tanner Leyden also drove in a run. Senior Aaron Ockenfels and junior Dallas Nye chipped in hits.
Gingerich took the loss for IMS. He allowed five runs, two of which were earned, on five hits in seven innings. He struck out 11 batters and walked two.
Senior Andy Dodson went 3-for-4 with a triple and two runs scored to lead Lone Tree (6-7, 3-6 SEISC North). Junior Ty Robertson had a hit and two RBIs, while senior Colin Gibson and sophomore Erik Murry both had a hit and an RBI.
Dodson got the win in relief as he pitched a scoreless eighth inning. He struck out three batters and did not give up a hit. Murry gave up four runs, three of which were earned, on five hits in seven innings. He struck out 12 batters and did not issue a walk.
IMS has now lost seven straight games, with three of those losses by one run.
