IMS girls take sixth at Danville
DANVILLE — The IMS girls’ track and field team placed in nine events to score 29 points and place sixth out of seven teams at the Danville Invite on Thursday night.
The highlight of the night for IMS came in the high jump, where senior Anya Slabaugh cleared 4 feet, 10 inches to break the previous meet record in the event. She took second place to Central Lee’s Britany Mathison, who also cleared 4-10 but missed fewer attempts during the competition.
Slabaugh also placed fourth in the 400-meter dash, crossing the finish line in 1:11.90.
Sophomore Riley Schmieder placed in three events for IMS. She was third in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:51, and she took fifth in both the 100-meter hurdles and 1,500-meter run with times of 19.56 seconds and 5:55, respectively.
Junior Kristin Davis, who made her debut for the IMS track team, placed fourth in the 200-meter dash in 30.63 seconds, and she also finished sixth in the 100-meter dash in 14.63 seconds.
Senior Camila Segar ran the first 3,000-meter race of her career, finishing sixth in 13:58.
The quartet of Slabaugh, Davis, Michaela Gingerich and Alvard Mamikonyan took sixth place in the 4x100 relay in 1:04.30.
