IMS holds off Regina

IOWA CITY — IMS withstood a furious comeback attempt by host Iowa City Regina to win Saturday’s non-conference contest 61-58.

IMS (15-2) led 47-26 with five minutes remaining in the third quarter, but the Regals rallied and had a chance to tie in the game’s final minute.

Senior Peyton Thompson scored a career-high 30 points to lead IMS, which held on to win its fifth straight game. Senior Cameron Gingerich added 14 points, 12 of which came from the free-throw line.

Sophomore Drew Cook scored 23 points to lead the Regals (9-9), and senior Kenyon Browning added 12.
