IMS pours in a season-high 70 points
WEST BURLINGTON — IMS shot a season-best 48 percent from the floor and poured in a season-high 70 points in a convincing 70-41 win at West Burlington on Thursday night.
IMS (7-10), which has won four of its last five games, led 14-6 after one quarter of play and extended its lead to 36-17 by halftime.
“We are playing together and things were clicking for us,” IMS head coach Aaron Gingerich said. “I thought our team was tremendous in handling the ball and setting up each other for good looks. We want to keep building momentum as we head toward tournament time.”
Sophomore Riley Schmieder scored a career-high 18 points on 8-for-13 shooting to lead IMS, which had four players score in double figures. Sophomore Hannah Miller added a career-high 17 points, and she also had seven rebounds and three assists in the contest. Junior Olivia Yutzy scored 16 points on 7-for-12 shooting, and she also had three steals. Junior Kristin Davis chipped in a double-double of 15 points and 11 assists, and she also had five steals.
Junior MaKenzie Whitmore had a double-double of 12 points and 12 rebounds to lead West Burlington (2-11), which lost its fourth straight game. Junior Jazlan Boyd added nine points, four assists and three steals, and junior Kaylee Dochterman had eight points.
