IMS snaps its eight-game losing streak
KALONA — IMS snapped its eight-game losing streak with a 10-0 victory over visiting West Branch in five innings on Wednesday afternoon.
IMS (5-11) scored two runs in the first inning, two runs in the second inning and then broke the non-conference baseball game open with six runs in the fourth.
Senior Aaron Ockenfels had a big day for IMS, going 2-for-2 with a home run and five RBIs. Junior Lane Schrock also had two hits, and junior Brent Brenneman had a triple and an RBI. Junior Reggie Hostetler had a hit and two RBIs, while senior Cameron Gingerich and junior Dallas Nye both had a hit and an RBI. Juniors Tanner Leyden and Tyler Messer both had a hit for IMS.
Meanwhile, Nye kept the Bears off the base paths in the contest as he only allowed one hit and issued one walk in five innings. He struck out six batters.
Junior Nevin Tucker had the only hit of the game for West Branch (5-13), which has lost 11 straight games.
