Iowa Mennonite boys’ soccer team gets conference victory
BURLINGTON - The Iowa Mennonite School’s boys’ soccer team returned to action on Tuesday, April 22, traveling to Southeast Iowa Super Conference foe Burlington Notre Dame and picking up a 5 - 0 win.
Goals were scored for IMS by senior Enrique Sanchez, freshman Nick Yutzy, freshman Alex Kurtz and junior Kobi Rossum. IMS also benefitted from the Notre Dame keeper putting a ball into his own net.
Senior Spencer Schrock had two assists in the match. Sophomore Eli Gingerich registered as well. Kurtz added an assist to his stat sheet.
Freshman Cole Yoder played all 80 minutes in goal for IMS, making 13 saves as he pitched the shutout. It was Yoder’s first start as keeper for IMS this season.
IMS moves to 3 – 2 overall and 3 – 1 in the conference. IMS travels to Danville this afternoon to face the unbeaten No. 3 in Class 1A Bears.
