AMES — The Iowa State University College of Human Sciences and its academic departments offered over $800,000 in scholarships to students for the 2013-2014 academic year.

Local recipients include:

Keota: Shelly Palmer, freshman, Merit Scholarship-College of Human Sciences;

Kayla Romoser, junior, Merlene E. Nelson Scholarship - Department of Human Development & Family Studies

Wellman: Nicole Adams, junior, Hospitality Scholarship - Department of Apparel, Events & Hospitality Mgmt

Tara Gent, senior, Neva M Petersen Scholarship - College of Human Sciences, Hospitality Scholarship - Dept. of Apparel, Events, & Hospitality Management

IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) — The Princeton Review released its annual college rankings on Monday, including the 2014 edition of the Top 20 party schools in the nation. The University of Iowa was named number one.

Grinnell now ranks eighth nationwide, among all colleges and universities, in per capita graduates pursuing Ph.D.s in agricultural science.That’s ahead of Iowa State (ranked No. 9), and Texas A&M (ranked No. 11)
