Jennifer Jorgensen-Watson to be inducted in IGHSAU Basketball Hall of Fame
Jennifer Jorgensen-Watson, daughter of Mike and Virginia Jorgensen of Washington will receive her second Hall of Fame Honor in less than a year. She will be inducted in the Iowa Girls High School Basketball Hall of Fame during the Girls State Basketball Tournament on March 8. She was inducted in the Iowa Girls High School Softball Hall of Fame last July becoming one of a very few athletes to be inducted in more than one Hall of Fame.
Jorgensen-Watson was a 2008 graduate of Southeast Webster-Grand and finished her career as the second All Time scorer in 5 on 5 basketball with a career total of 2,708. She led the Eagles to the only 2 state tournament appearances in school history in 2006 and 2008. She also is eighth in rebounding (1,184) and sixth in assists (621). She’s the only player ever with more than 2,000 points, 1,000 rebounds and 600 assists.
Jorgensen-Watson started her collegiate career at the University of the Pacific in Stockton, Calif., average 2.5 points per game in limited action. She transferred to Grand View University her Sophomore year where she scored over 2000 points in 3 seasons. She was a 3 time All Conference player and was selected the Midwest Conference Player of the Year her junior and senior years. She was selected a 3rd Team All American her Sophomore year and 1st Team All American her junior and senior season. She was selected the National NAIA Division 2 Player of the Year in 2012. Grand View finished in the Elite 8 at the National Tournament twice during her career.
Jennifer married Eric Watson in August 2013 and currently resides in Bloomington, Ill. She is employed with the Illinois State University Athletic Department and is also serving as an assistant women’s basketball coach for Illinois Wesleyan.
