JV girls’ basketball recap
The Washington High School junior varsity girls’ basketball team recently finished a winning season with a record of 12 – 9 overall, 5 – 3 in conference games.
After starting the season on a four-game losing streak, the Demons got it together to win 12 of their final 17 games. That stretch included five-game and four-game winning streaks.
The highest point total of the season was 53, reached twice. The Demons got their largest victory of the season against Tipton, defeating them 53 – 14. Washington’s best defensive effort came against Central Lee, limiting that team to only five points in the game.
Sophomore Dylann Schluetter led the Demons in scoring with 108 points. Sophomore Addie Pacha led Washington in rebounding with 69.
The team was comprised of three freshmen, eight sophomores and six juniors. The head coach is Jay Zieglowsky. Zieglowsky is assisted by Chelsey Danielson and Jake Steen.
These players, several of whom also played minutes for the varsity team this season, will add great depth to the returning varsity letter-winners for the 2014 – 15 season.
