Keota girls’ season ends
WINFIELD – The Keota High School’s girls’ varsity basketball team suffered a season-ending loss at the hands of the Winfield-Mt. Union Wolves on Tuesday, Feb. 18 in the second round of regional tournament play, 54 - 44.
The Wolves got out to a 14 – 6 lead in the first quarter but the Eagles answered with a 17 – 11 run in the second quarter to trim the Winfield-Mt. Union lead to 25 – 23 at halftime.
Winfield-Mt. Union then went on to outscore Keota 16 – 11 in the third quarter and 13 - 10 in the fourth quarter to advance to the regional semifinal against IMS.
Keota finishes the season at 13 – 10 overall. The contest was the last in the high school career of Keota senior Kelsi Sieren.The Eagles should return the remaining 11 members of their varsity roster next season, however. Eight of those 11 will be seniors next season and the other three will be juniors.
