Keota rallies past Winfield-Mt. Union
KEOTA — Winfield-Mt. Union led Keota by four points at halftime of Thursday’s Class 1A District 9 quarterfinal, but the Eagles rallied in the second half for a 50-42 win.
Keota (18-4) slammed the door defensively on the Wolves in the second half, out-scoring them 27-15 over the game’s final 16 minutes.
Junior Kolton Greiner scored a game-high 22 points to lead the Eagles, and he also grabbed eight rebounds. Sophomore Nate Owen added a double-double of 10 points and 11 rebounds, and junior Derek Berg had nine points and seven steals. Junior Luke Lyle chipped in six points and eight rebounds.
Junior Max Fricke scored 15 points to lead Winfield-Mt. Union, which finished its season with a record of 7-16. Freshman Garret Baker added a double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds, and junior Jake Edwards also scored 12 points.
Keota will host Pekin (14-8) in a district semifinal on Tuesday night.
