Kirkwood awards scholarships
Kirkwood Community College has announced scholarship awards for the upcoming academic year. The scholarships are administered by the Kirkwood Foundation and made possible through the generosity of individuals, companies and organizations.
The Foundation plans to award a record $2.6 million in donated and endowed support for approximately 1,300 students in the 2013-14 academic year.
Recent Kirkwood scholarship winners from this area include:
Washington: Matthew Bodkins was awarded the Area of Greatest Need Scholarship in the amount of $1,500. Bodkins is the son of Jim and Judy Bodkins. He has three children and lives in Washington. These scholarships will support his studies in the management–AS program.
Emily A. Rusthoven was awarded the Henry and Sara Katz Endowed Scholarship in the amount of $2,000, and the Transamerica Endowed Scholarship in the amount of $500. Rusthoven is a graduate of Washington High School and is the daughter of Mary Bailey and Jack Rusthoven. She and her daughter, Allison, live in Washington. These scholarships will support her studies in the nursing program.
Stacy Sturdevant was awarded the Area of Greatest Need for Student Assistance Scholarship in the amount of $1,500. Sturdevant is a graduate of Washington High School and has three children. This scholarship will support her studies in the Liberal Arts-AA program.
