Library to present 'Raising Money -$mart Kids'
The Washington Free Public Library will offer a free program, “Raising Money -$mart Kids” on Tuesday, July 9, from 6 to 9 p.m. No matter how parents feel at times, studies show they are usually their children's most important teachers when it comes to money management habits and skills. Gain ideas and strategies you can use to help your children build skills that will enable them to make smart financial decisions in those critical young-adult years. Whether your children are 2 or 22, there are steps you can take to promote their life-long financial well-being.
The program is free and anyone in the Washington County area is invited to participate and should stop by the library, call 319-653-2097, or e-mail: <email@example.com> to register.
The program is made possible through a Smart Investing @ Your Library grant to Iowa Library Services funded by the American Library Association (ALA) and the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) Investor Education Foundation. Iowa State University Extension and Outreach is a cooperating partner in the program. Washington Free Public Library is one of 18 rural libraries in Iowa selected by Iowa Library Services for participation in 2013.
The Washington Free Public Library also received over $500 worth of library materials about personal finance and investing for their general collection. Ames Public Library, a previous grant recipient, partnered with Iowa Library Services to select the financial resources and also helped train library staff.
