Local resident to be featured on TV for work with FarmHer
This Friday, March 10, at 8:30 p.m. CST, FarmHer, exclusively on RFD-TV, returns with all new episodes. The first episode out of the gate will feature 22-year-old FarmHer and Iowa native, Lexi Marek from Washington County.
Lexi spent time this past August with the host and founder of FarmHer, Marji Guyler-Alaniz, and the RFD-TV production team during the world-famous Iowa State Fair, where Lexi was in her final pig show after a 16-year showing career. It was during that day at the Iowa State Fair that Marji witnessed history in the making and spent time learning about Lexi’s upbringing in agriculture and how it has shaped her into the FarmHer she is today.
Lexi is a sixth-generation farmer. She is a lover of pigs. She is one of four sisters in her family. She is a senior at Iowa State University and she is currently serving as Miss Greater Des Moines and will be competing soon for Miss Iowa.
Lexi’s episode on FarmHer will not only tell her personal story, but will also follow her throughout the day to show the television audience what exactly goes into showing pigs at a livestock show. From washing to feeding to entering the show ring, the cameras follow Lexi through her final show. And what better way to end a career than to watch Lexi win Grand Champion with her final pig, Phillip, who sold for $53,000 during the Sale of Champions, breaking the all-time species record at the Iowa State Fair.
