Local student is regional winner of scholarship
Conservation District of Iowa (CDI) and the Washington Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) are pleased to announce Mitchell Hora has been selected to receive $500 as the regional winner of the Conservation Districts of Iowa Scholarship. Mitchell was also awarded $1,000 locally from the Washington SWCD.
Scholarships are awarded to students pursuing a college education in natural resources and/or agriculture and who show leadership and scholastic achievement.
Mitchell is active in FFA, Business Professionals of America, 4-H, wrestling, football, track, baseball, weightlifting, and a member of the National Honor Society. His hobbies entail activities that are sports related, spending time with family and friends, and supporting the Iowa State Cyclones. He holds several jobs – Precision Partners, Impressions Computers, and the family farm. He plans to attend Iowa State University focusing on agricultural technology. Future plans include owning a farm and a farm technology business.
Together, Conservation District of Iowa and the 100 Soil and Water Conservation Districts in Iowa, fund and implement the scholarship program as part of their mission to protect and enhance soil, water, and other natural resources valuable to our state.
