Log Cabin Questers
Diane Anding was hostess to 10 members of Log Cabin Questers for coffee and rolls at Ainsworth Four Corners Café. A brief business meeting was conducted by President Sheila Gerot.
The group then traveled to Muscatine. At the Muscatine History and Industry Center, they enjoyed learning about the history of the pearl button industry as well as several other locally made products. They enjoyed lunch and shopping at Pearl Plaza.
The afternoon was spent at the Muscatine Art Center, which is actually two facilities; the Laura Musser mansion and the Stanley Art Gallery. The group especially enjoyed viewing the Edwardian-style Musser mansion, built in 1908, which is filled with excellent examples of period furnishing, rare antiques, and valuable works of art. The Stanley Art Gallery was featuring the exhibition, “Jon Fasanelli-Cawelti: A Retrospective.” It offered a look at the technique of printmaking and the evolution of a printmaker, by the local Muscatine resident.
The next meeting will be held on June 6 at the home of Nancy Schmidt. Each member is asked to bring some patriotic memorabilia to go along with the program to be presented by Dorothy Koehler.
