Log Cabin Questers

Mar 10, 2014

Ten Members of the Log Cabin Questers met with Sandy Weller in Washington on March 6, 2014.

Sandy gave everyone a quiz on “Button Trivia" and Billie Nickolan was the winner. Sandy Weller presented a program on the “The ABCs of Buttons” by showing a button or buttons representing each letter of the alphabet. Many different kinds of buttons can be found!

Sheila Gerot presided over the business meeting. Dues were paid for the coming year. It was voted to give $50 for Ann Sturgeon Kreager’s State President’s Project of purchasing a historical piece of glass to honor the Iowa Questers' 50th anniversary and the Iowa International 2016 Quester Convention. This will be added to the Questers contribution to the Brunnier Glass collection at Iowa State College.

A list of state and national officers was approved.

Sharon Hahn and Sandy Weller of the S.E. Iowa Button Club announced their club would be holding a Button Road Show for the public on March 20, at 1:30 p.m. to bring their buttons to the Washington Library to be identified.

The three Quester groups in Washington are talking about coordinating an Iowa State Quester Grant for the Log Cabin in Washington. Sheila Gerot suggested a garden walk and a tea at her home as a fundraiser this summer.

Coming events were announced: State Day at Ames and Boone April 4-5, Fall Area Days at Van Meter, Sept. 20; Keokuk, Sept. 27; Cedar Falls, Oct. 4. Log Cabin Questers will be in charge of the Ways and Means Project for these meetings.

Sandy Weller served seasonal refreshments as members shared buttons they had brought to tell about.

The next meeting will be held at Martha Hahn’s with Norma Stutsman giving the program. The tour to Burlington will be postponed one month.
