Log Cabin Questers
Log Cabin Questers met at the home of Norma Stutzman. Eleven members and one guest were present.
The business meeting was opened by President Sheila Gerot with a thought for the day. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. It was reported that the DAR is in need of funds for repairs to the Log Cabin. A motion was made and approved to make a club contribution to the DAR for Log Cabin use.
The SE Area Day committee decided to send the P&R funds to the Log Cabin.
A possible meeting and field trip in August was discussed. Members should continue to bring forth suggestions. The ballot for State Officers was presented. A motion was made and approved to accept the nominees for State Officers. The ballot for International Officers was presented. A motion was made and approved to accept the nominees for International Officers.
It was noted that Iowa has more local chapters than any other state. President Gerot will send a report to the State highlighting the activities of the past year. The treasurer’s report was given and approved. It was decided that each member will donate next month to supplement the treasury. Quester dues are being collected.
State Day is scheduled for April 12-13 in Iowa City. The theme is “Explore the Arts in Iowa City.” Members were encouraged to attend one or both days. The International Quester Convention will be held in Rogers, Ark., in May. Karen Heineman was nominated and voted in to the Log Cabin group.
The program topic, Coverlets, was presented by Bev Bartmann. She shared many examples of coverlets from the mid- to late-19th century. She explained the various patterns and the equipment and skill needed to produce these textiles.
Bev Bartmann also brought many samples of antique and vintage valentines which were enjoyed by all.
Refreshments were served, as the group enjoyed social time.
