Martha Washington Questers

Jul 11, 2013

For their June outing, six members of the Martha Washington Questers No. 1032 made the trip to Cedar Rapids on June 20, to tour the National Czech and Slovak Museum. Members especially enjoyed the "Read My Pins" exhibit, a collection of pins owned and worn by former Secretary of State Madeline Albright. The pins were nicely displayed, along with the story behind each one. A short movie showing the flood damage to the museum and the restoration project was also very interesting. A tour of an immigrant's home, which also survived the floodwaters, was included in the tour.

Afterward, lunch was enjoyed at the Red Frog Restaurant. Members then checked out several of the antique stores located in the Czech Village. A stop at the Sykora Bakery was made before heading home. Everyone agreed it was an informative and fun day.
