Washington County Master Gardeners met at the fairgrounds on April 30 to do the annual spring garden cleanup. Flower beds around the schoolhouse, railroad depot and Washington County Extension building were cleaned and readied for spring. After the cleanup a business meeting was held at the Pizza Ranch with 13 members attending.
The upcoming plant sale on May 18 was discussed as well as setup on Friday, May 17. All of the tables were filled last year and larger plants were placed on the floor. Shirley Steele will put up fliers in local businesses. The larger signs are up. Kay Ciha will check into prices for additional signage that can be used each year.
Dianne Nelson reported on the seed-starting demonstration that she gave at the Extension Office on March 23. It was well attended and she would like the Master Gardeners to hold more educational workshops for the public.
