Mediapois rallies past IMS in the eighth inning
MEDIAPOLIS — IMS appeared to be poised to hand Mediapolis its first Southeast Iowa Super Conference North Division loss after scoring two runs in the top of the eighth inning to take a 4-2 lead, but the Bulldogs scored three runs in the bottom of the frame to rally for a 5-4 victory on Tuesday night.
Junior Tyler Messer went 3-for-4 and drove in a run to lead IMS (4-7, 4-5 SEISC North) at the plate, and senior Cameron Gingerich was 2-for-2 with an RBI. Senior Aaron Ockenfels went 2-for-4 with a triple and an RBI, and junior Brent Brenneman had a hit and drove in a run. Juniors Reggie Hostetler and Dallas Nye also had hits for IMS, which dropped its fourth straight.
Gingerich took the loss for IMS. He allowed five runs, two of which were earned, on four hits in 7 2/3 innings. He struck out 10 batters and walked four.
Freshman Brandon Tapp went 2-for-3, drove in a run and scored three times for Mediapolis (10-2, 9-0 SEISC North). Freshman Josh Osborne had a double and two RBIs, and senior Jordan Wagenbach had a hit and an RBI.
