Mid-Prairie blanks West Liberty 26-0
WELLMAN — Mid-Prairie wrapped up a No. 2 seed in the Class 2A playoffs with a 26-0 win over West Liberty at Doc Sattler Field on Friday night.
The majority of Mid-Prairie’s scoring came from junior kicker Austin Errthum, who knocked in four field goals and a pair of extra-point kicks on the night. Junior Eesaa Baylor rushed for 132 yards and a touchdown, and junior quarterback Reid Miller also ran for a score. Miller was 11-for-16 passing on the night for 114 yards.
Baylor led the Golden Hawks (7-2, 5-1 District 5) with six tackles, while senior Nathan Thomann and junior Canaan Powell added five apiece. Thomann recovered a fumble, and Errthum intercepted a pass.
Mid-Prairie will host Prairie City-Monroe (4-6) in Wednesday night’s first-round playoff game.
