WELLMAN - The Mid-Prairie girls’ soccer team defeated the Monticello Panthers 3 - 0 in a home River Valley Conference match last night.
Junior Renee Buckwalter scored one goal. Junior Ashley Miller and senior Bailie Harris contributed the other two goals. Junior Bree Reed contributed an assist.
Harris and junior Cassidy Bontrager again split the match in front of the net for the Golden Hawks. Harris finished with five saves and Bontrager had one to combine to blank the Panthers.
“This was our strongest game of the season yet. Our defense stayed solid to give us the shutout. Our midfield and forwards worked well together, creating some incredible passing combinations together. I’m proud of the hard work and unity we showed tonight. I’m excited to see what more we can do this year as we continue to improve,” Mid-Prairie head coach Maya Kehr Yoder said.
The Golden Hawks improve to 3 – 3 overall, 1 – 1 in the River Valley Conference. Mid-Prairie visits No. 7 in Class 1A Iowa City Regina on Monday, April 28 for another RVC match.
