Mid-Prairie girls place seventh
GOOSE LAKE – The Mid-Prairie High School girls’ track and field team competed against the rest of the River Valley Conference on Thursday, May 8 at Northeast High School. The Golden Hawks took seventh place with 46 team points.
Abby Tornow was the runner-up in the high jump, clearing the bar set at 4 feet, 10 inches. The sprint medley (Arissa Marine, Alex Rath, Lexi Duwa and Greta Schmidt) placed third with a time of 2 minutes, 0.01 seconds. In the 4x800-meter relay, Mid-Prairie (Hannah Van Roekel, Tornow, Schmidt and Maddi Zahradnek) came in fourth place in 11:10.46.
Duwa also scored in the 200-meter dash, coming in fourth with a time of 26.62. The 4x100-meter relay (Duwa, Marine, Emily Cayton and Rath) was also fourth in 51.78. Duwa continued her strong performance in the 100-meter dash, taking fifth place with a time of 12.64.
In the distance medley, the Golden Hawks (Marine, Rath, Schmidt and Tornow) had a fifth-place time of 4:43.16. Ali Butters finished sixth in the 100-meter hurdles in 17.33. Zahradnek did the same in the 1,500-meter run with her time of 5:32.02.
The Mid-Prairie girls will compete at districts in Eddyville on Thursday, May 15. Following are all the results outside of the top eight places, listed by event.
