Mid-Prairie hires new business manager
WELLMAN — Jeff Swartzendruber of Kalona, current vice president and regional director for Everence Trust Company in Kalona, is the new business manager/board secretary for the Mid-Prairie School District. He assumes his duties next month, replacing Cindy Steege who resigned effective June 12, for a position with Solon.
He was hired during a special board meeting June 3.
Swartzendruber said he is looking forward to joining Mid-Prairie, especially as it begins a major $10.6 million improvement plan. He also sees his long-time association with the district and community as “a great help.”
A Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Swartzendruber previously had been a corporate treasurer for a 12-company, 21-site manufacturer that had $200 million in annual sales and $95 million in assets. He also was a vice-president and controller for a six-company, 70-plus partnership providing rental housing construction and real estate management services. Even more, he has extensive experience in supervising employees.
He is the current president fo the Mid-Prairie Foundation, a member of the Kalon Rtoary Cluy and a board trustee and treasurer for Maple Lawn Homes of Eureka, Illinois. He and his wife, Bev, reside in Kalona and are the parents of two children, both of whom are Mid-Prairie graduates.
