Mid-Prairie places 6th
Mid-Prairie picked up a sixth-place finish in the Iowa state golf competition that finished up on Tuesday.
Sophomore Allyson Wertz was the high finisher for the Golden Eagles, who finished with a two-round team score of 770 at Ames Golf and
Wertz finished with a 94 on both days for a 188, good for 24th place overall in the individual competition.
Senior Courtney Cayton finished two strokes behind her teammate, with a 198 (94-96) to finish in a tie for 25th, while senior Sydney Scarff was one stroke behind her with a 191 (98-93).
Laura Yoder improved her score on Day 2 by three to finish with a 201 (102-99), while Mick VanWinkle shot a 208 (107–101) and Olivia Nisly had a 237 (126-111).
The overall team winner of the tournament was Atlantic, who finished with a score of 695. The individual winner was Paige VanDyk out of South Tama County, who carded a 148 (75-73) to win the event by three strokes.
