Mid-Prairie to host kindergarten parent meeting
The Mid-Prairie Community School District is currently making plans for the 2014-15 school year. Incoming kindergarten students who were born on or before Sept. 15, 2009, will be eligible to attend kindergarten this fall. The district will hold a parent meeting on Wednesday, March 12, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. This meeting will be held at all three elementary schools: Kalona Elementary School, Washington Township Elementary School, and Wellman Elementary School. Parents should attend the elementary school parent meeting for the elementary school that they anticipate sending their child to for the upcoming school year.
Parents who have an eligible student who will attend one of the district’s three elementary schools this fall, and who does not currently attend one of the district preschools, please call one of the elementary schools to add your child’s name to the list for additional information. Kalona Elementary School’s phone number is 319-656-2243; Washington Township Elementary School’s phone number is 319-683-2770; and Wellman Elementary School’s phone number is 319-646-2984. Additional information will then be mailed to parents.
Please bring a copy of your child’s birth certificate and record of immunizations to the parent meeting. Additional forms will be required to be filled out at the meeting. Please feel free to pass along this information to friends, neighbors, and relatives who may have incoming kindergartners. A special visitation day is being planned for new kindergarten students to be held during a half-day on the day before the official start date of school in August. More information will be shared with parents regarding the Kindergarten Visitation Day later.
