Mt. Pleasant edges Washington eighth-grade girls
Washington trailed rival Mt. Pleasant by just one point heading into the fourth quarter of Thursday’s eighth-grade girls’ basketball game, but the Panthers pulled away in the final period for a 34-28 win.
Even though the Demons fell to 0-5 on the season, head coach Angie Shrader was pleased with her team’s effort.
“This was the best game the girls have played all season,” she said. “They played hard from start to finish. It was a good team effort.”
Alexi Evans scored 12 points to lead the Demons, and Lexi Redlinger added eight points. Jessie Buchholz had three points to go with nine steals, and Brenna Weidman also scored three points. Bella Giardino chipped in two points and four steals.
Giardino, Redlinger and Michaela Roder each had three rebounds in the contest, and Roder also had two steals. Buchholz, Weidman and Alexis Turner each pulled down a pair of rebounds.
