One injured Friday
An accident Friday afternoon that left one person injured remains under investigation and charges are pending, according to an initial report from the Iowa State Patrol (ISP).
ISP troopers, along with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Washington County Ambulance, Riverside Fire and Riverside First Responders, responded at about 1:12 p.m. Friday to reports of a vehicle that had gone into the ditch from the northbound lane on Highway 218 at milepost 76.
According to the report, a 2002 Mazda Protégé driven by Stewart L. Holloway of West Burlington left the roadway and entered the east ditch, striking a tree. Holloway was reportedly wearing his seat belt at the time of the accident.
Holloway was transported to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City by Washington County Ambulance.
