A Washington man was pronounced dead at the scene of a two-vehicle accident Sunday afternoon that occurred two miles west of Washington on G38 west of Kiwi Avenue, and five others were transported to Washington County Hospital or the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
According to an Iowa State Patrol crash report, Dennis D. Albright, 46, of Washington, was pronounced dead and taken to the Jones & Eden Funeral Home in Washington.
According to the report, a 2007 Dodge Ram pickup driven by Timothy J. Milligan, 21, of Montrose, was traveling westbound on G38 and was attempting to turn around in the road. A 1996 Ford Mustang driven by Craig A. Bartholomew, 37, of Washington, was also traveling westbound. Albright was a passenger in the Mustang. According to the report, the pickup turned in front of the Mustang and the front of the Mustang struck the front of the pickup. Both vehicles came to rest in the south ditch.
Bartholomew was taken by ambulance to the Washington County Hospital and Clinics. Milligan was taken by ambulance to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Stephanie Wetterling, 21, a passenger in the pickup, was taken by ambulance to Washington County Hospital. AirCare took Alexis Althar, 21, of Fort Madison, also a passenger in the pickup, to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. According to the report, there were also three juveniles in car seats in the pickup who were taken to either Washington County Hospital or the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
