Optimist Club’s essay contest winners announced
The Optimist Club of Washington has announced the top three winners in the club’s Optimist International Essay Contest. All students wrote on the topic of “How Can I Help My Friends Realize Their Self Value.” Each essay had to be 600 to 700 words in length.
Anna Berhow, daughter of Mark and Jodi Berhow of Washington, was selected for first place. Ben Snyder, son of James and Michelle Snyder of Richland was selected for second place. Jacee Stapp, daughter of Rob Stapp and Erin Smith of Washington received third place.
Berhow’s essay will compete at the Iowa District Optimist International level for a $2,500 scholarship.
