Pekin uses late run to pull away from IMS
KALONA — IMS trimmed Pekin’s lead to five points with just over five minutes remaining in Tuesday’s Southeast Iowa Super Conference North Division game inside Hillcrest Union, but the Panthers out-scored the home team 20-7 down the stretch to win 59-41.
Sophomore Hannah Miller sank four 3-pointers and scored 12 points to lead IMS (7-12, 6-11 SEISC North). Junior Olivia Yutzy added 10 points, six rebounds and three steals, and junior Kristin Davis had nine points.
Freshman Beth Atwood came off the Pekin bench to score a game-high 17 points and grab 10 rebounds. Freshman Gwynne Wright added 12 points for the Panthers (8-10, 8-9 SEISC North), and sophomore Madelyn Baker had 11 points and eight rebounds.
